About Youmares:
Starting off as a national students' event, Youmares has expanded over the years to a bottom-up worldwide network and international meeting of young ocean researchers and experts.
Since 2010 YOUMARES has developed into the largest meeting for young marine scientists in Germany. It is now an excellent platform to present results in a professional atmosphere that, at the same time, still manages to avoid the sometimes overwhelming character of established scientific meetings.
YOUMARES is a scientific conference for Bachelor, Master, and PhD students, those who want to study marine sciences and those who already finished. The wide range of topics and interdisciplinary character is one of the most important aspects of YOUMARES but the easy-to-talk-to setting is what makes it special.
With this year’s theme “Oceans across boundaries: learning from each other” we look forward to a cheerful and inspiring conference with you working in various scientific fields and marine regions of the world. And as the water of the oceans just cannot be put into boundaries, we as well will try to expand our horizons.
Four Days in Oldenburg
We are very happy that we can meet at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg with organizational support of the “Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment” (ICBM) and welcome everyone to join us – no matter if you would like to present your work, a poster or just come and listen to the inspiring conference programme.
Programme
This year´s YOUMARES will consist of over 130 talks and over 40 posters organized in 19 scientific sessions. These sessions cover a broad variety of topics from citicen science, plastic pollution and tropical ecology to more organismic sessions as for instance on cephalopods, invasive species or sponges. Together with additional workshops, excursions and other communicative activities, YOUMARES 9 will be an excellent networking event for young marine researchers. Registration
YOUMARES 9 will take place in Oldenburg on September 12-14th 2018! So go ahead and register now. We are looking forward to seeing you soon and it doesn’t matter if you present or just want to listen and meet other people. Everyone is welcome!
Please register online. The deadline for registration is 1 September 2018. Thereafter, online registrations cannot be accepted anymore and you have to register manually at the registration desk as soon as you reach the conference venue. This will be quite some additional effort and will cost 5 Euros in addition to the applicable conference fees (cash only). Thus, we recommend registering online in time.
