Presented at the occasion of the CPMR 50th Anniversary and General Assembly in November 2023, the group will offer a formal framework within the CPMR to enhance interregional collaboration based on the blue dimension of S3 and contribute to a reflection on the future of S3 for sustainable and competitive blue value chains.
The informal group aims to gather regional civil servants working specifically on the topic of innovation and smart specialisation in their region, to foster fruitful and technical debates on the role of S3 and research and innovation for a sustainable blue economy in EU territories.
This first meeting will aim at structuring the activities of the group, by agreeing on a roadmap for 2024 and 2025. With the participation of DG MARE, the meeting will allow the participants to discuss opportunities for S3 interregional cooperation on sustainable blue economy, in particular in light of the recently launched partnerships on Maritime Sustainable Blue Bioeconomy and on Circular Smart Aquaculture, as well as the open Call for Expression of Interest for new partnerships under the S3 Platform on Sustainable Blue Economy.
The meeting will be held in English in hybrid format, Monday 29 April from 14.30 to 17.30, in Brussels, at the office of Region Emilia Romagna to the European Union, 21 Rue du Montoyer, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.
