The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy together with the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen invites you to the International Symposium on “Digital platforms for Maritime Safety and Security Applications”. The event takes place from October 23rd to 24th, 2019, and is part of a national initiative to foster the development of maritime technologies which is called the German National Masterplan Maritime Technologies (NMMT).
Nowadays the marine industry faces the most divers challenges reaching from geopolitical shifts in trade and defence, technological advances in computing and communication technologies to the fastest growing markets of new business models determined by the digital revolution. Therefore, trends and challenges in Maritime Safety and Security Applications shall be discussed during this comprehensive 2‐days event with international experts from various maritime branches.
The symposium will focus on the following application areas:
- Digitalisation in marine traffic monitoring, management and logistics
- Critical maritime infrastructures in ports and waterways
- Security challenges on coastal and offshore installations
- Digital platforms and services for environmental monitoring and protection
- Communication needs for advanced safety and security infrastructures
- Digitalisation and System Engineering, Certification and Resilience
- Testbeds for marine applications and research
- Foresight Panel
The Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen has the honour to invite you to a Senate Reception on the first evening of the conference. The event will be complemented by selected 2/3 industry‐lead project displays and live‐demonstrations of latest products and technologies. The conference language will be English.
The symposium will be held on October 23rd and 24th, 2019 at the Forum Fischbahnhof, Bremerhaven, Germany.

Bremerhaven is the second largest port in Germany with a busy maritime industry, beautifully set at the Weser estuary, gateway to the Southern North Sea.
