In the AIRCOAT project, the project partners have developed a passive air lubrication technology for ship hulls, that utilizes the biomimetic Salvinia effect and significantly reduces overall frictional drag. In addition to significantly reducing fuel consumption and thus exhaust emissions, the novel foil also prevents biofouling adhesion and mitigates ship noise emissions. After 4 years of intense work, the AIRCOAT Project is organizing a final event to present its research approach, developments and results.
