Additive manufacturing is one of the most promising novel technologies within the industry 4.0. Apart from other advantages, it allows the designer to create entirely new shapes for technical applications. These innovative solutions for existing technical applications can be found by using Finite Element Simulation and shape optimization. In this presentation, I want to show the potential of the optimization by means of a demo case. Furthermore, I want to discuss if the outcome is always worth effort of the optimization or if there are more effective alternatives being suitable for industrial usage. |
