Boosting a sustainable blue bioeconomy creates benefits not only for seaweed cultivators, round goby product developers, and biorefineries but for society as a whole.

In recent years, initiatives such as the European Ocean Pact, the EU Algae Initiative, and the Blue Economy Observatory have underscored the growing importance of ocean-based industries in Europe. Together, these efforts are driving innovation, commercialization, and policy development to unlock the full economic and environmental potential of aquatic resources.

The final SUBMARINER Webinar of the year will explore how a sustainable blue bioeconomy can generate value for both businesses and governments. The session will showcase practical business cases and planning strategies that demonstrate how blue innovation contributes to economic growth and ecosystem health while also identifying the challenges that remain.

We will start with an overview of the state of play in blue business cases and then dive into examples from across Europe, highlighting insights from projects including Prep4Blue, ULTFARMS, I3-4-Seaweed, and Cool Blue. Further discussions will focus on blue business models (TETRAS, EU4Algae, Blue4All, RoundGoby), followed by an interactive panel discussion and Q&A, drawing on audience contributions.
