Five Northern German countries – one maritime cluster! The Maritime Cluster Northern Germany (MCN) promotes and develops cooperations in the Northern German maritime industry. It creates platforms so that stakeholders are able to interact with each other and it also promotes interfaces with other industries.

Safebridge GmbH is a worldwide leading provider of web-based E-Learning products
for the maritime industry. Safebridge develops and provides online-courses for
nautical officers and captains. One of the important focal points is user training for
software-based interfaces.
Safebridge established itself in the field of global shipping industry
as partner for almost all world`s leading manufacturers of navigation and bridge
systems. Currently, Safebridge employs around 25 people. Safebridge is
headquartered in Hamburg`s harbor in Germany and has one Philippiness-based

Thanks to an extensive network of manufacturers` cooperations Safebridge can
provide trainings for almost all ECDIS systems on board. This eliminates searching
for appropriate training providers, since Safebridge doesn`t only offer online trainings
but also classroom trainings. Therefore Safebridge is a central base offering types of
trainings for shipping companies, crewing agencies and shipmanagers.


The company has evolved from the European project „Safebridge“ and stands for
innovative and interactive learning concepts. Along the lines „learning by doing“
Safebridge uses the original software during the training. In this way the user can
work with exactly the same system from home that he will later use on board. This
unique online simutation has also been supported by the Hamburg Innovation

Typespecific ECDIS Training

Until 2018 the shipping sector will change from paper charts over to electronic charts
progressively. The online training Safebridge offers is a freely scaleable training
solution which is always available.
