Ships are becoming increasingly digital to meet the future requirements. The aim is to optimize system and ship operation and lower costs. However, the high degree of digitization means that commissioning takes more time, both during ship construction and when replacing systems or retrofitting. As a result, pressure is growing on shipyards and the supply industry to improve not only the systems themselves, but also their integration. One effective approach is the Module Type Package (MTP) concept. Renowned companies and institutions within the industry association VDMA developed the MTP standard which can be widely applied in the shipping and shipbuilding industry.
