Following the success of the first edition in April 2026, we are pleased to announce the
2nd Rostock Biofuels in Shipping Symposium
The positive feedback from participants, speakers and partners encouraged us to continue this platform for exchanging knowledge and practical experience on the use of biofuels in the maritime sector.
The shipping industry faces major challenges in reducing its emissions sustainably while ensuring operational safety and economic efficiency. Biofuels and innovative additives offer a promising solution, but their use raises numerous technical, economic, and regulatory questions. To explore these issues with you, we have launched this conference that will provide experts and interested parties with a platform for exchange and discussion.
Contributions from official authorities, fuel providers, engine and component manufacturers, and users will cover the entire value chain and present practical experiences and the latest developments. A panel discussion will also bring together different perspectives and provide an open forum for discussing current challenges, opportunities, and required actions. The aim is to stimulate practical ideas, strengthen networks, and promote joint solutions.
What to expect
The program is currently being developed and will once again cover the entire biofuel value chain, including:
Biofuel production and supply
Fuel quality and additives
Regulations, legislation and certification
Engine technology and research
Practical experience from ship operators and end users
