The Innovation Platform Sustainable Sea and Ocean Solutions ISSS invites you to the first Talking Blue Sustainability event, organised by Fraunhofer, TNO and CoLAB +Atlantic. Join our discussion on the challenges and benefits of ocean monitoring to deliver on the blue arm of the Green Deal!

Our oceans, seas and coastal areas play a crucial role in raw material extraction, climate mitigation and adaptation, energy supply and our well-being. Ocean monitoring enables us to create knowledge on the state of the ocean and base political decisions on reliable data.

This event will gather ISSS researchers, who elaborate on the challenges in the ocean environment caused by human activities and the benefits of innovative ocean monitoring technologies for evidence-based policy making. These solutions enable us to create knowledge from sparse data.
Further technological development and the transfer of research results will generate actionable recommendations and support the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of the oceans.

We are delighted to welcome MEP Rasmus Andresen, who will talk about the relevance of research and innovation in policy making and the Green Deal for the oceans of tomorrow.

ISSS engages ten European RTOs – CoLAB +ATLANTIC, AZTI, ENEA, Fraunhofer, IFREMER, RISE, SINTEF Ocean, Tecnalia, TNO and VTT – to develop and master innovative technologies for a sustainable blue economy to boost the European Green Deal and facilitate an internationally competitive European maritime industry.

Our vision is a climate-neutral continent through a completely green-blue transformed economy and society in 2050. Our mission is the responsible utilisation of our oceans, to harness their potential and create additional value and future-proof jobs in the European marine and maritime
sectors.

Together with the industry, we aim for a fast transfer of new technologies into industrial applications, with a focus on the three central application areas Aquaculture, Ocean Cleaning, and Energy and Raw Materials Harvesting.
